A coulple years ago, we went on a JCVD
movie binge that took us through most of his filmography, but of
all the JCVD movies, Kickboxer contains a special gem that pops up in gif form again and again.
The clip you've likely seen:
Why you should watch the rest of the
film: Basically Kickboxer is a rehashing of Bloodsport, so it's hard to go
wrong unless you watch them too close together.
What you should watch after: All the
rest of JCVD's filmography, obvs.
Why you should watch the rest: Danger 5 is a group of special forces spies who are tasked with one mission: kill Hitler. They must navagate a plethora of 60s telivison tropes to catch the wiley Hitler, who ineveatibly slips through their fingers by the end of each episode. The mocking of an overly simplistic television landscape of ole is done with nothing but love and makes this show very satisfying mindless entertainment.
Season two: We havn't seen any of the second season, but it is set in a world of 80s movie tropes and it looks AMAZING.
Why you should watch the rest: We'd
seen the clip of Frank Washington “reacing” to his partner being
hit on and then snubbed by a nurse, though we didn't know what movie it was from until we randomly watched Samurai Cop. That scene is a mere taste of a movie that is pretty
relentlessly excellent. Trust us, this is a film you don't want to
miss out on!
What the actors said about the scene:
Apparently Mark Frazer was not given any direction regarding what to react to, which is why his “reactions” are so over the top.
Swag from Samurai Cop: Tim still has some swag from our first Tape Freaks screening available on his Storenvy!
Why you should watch the rest: This is a great terrible movie. Very little sense is made through the whole movie, mostly because the director (who only spoke Italian) chose a cast of
people who had never acted in their lives, but also because the story is ridiculous.
What you should know before you watch:
This movie has nothing what so ever to do with the first Troll movie
(which is another Michael Moriarty gem), titling it Troll 2 was an afterthought by producers.
This is a stand alone movie about vegetarian goblins trying to turn
a family into vegetables.
What you should watch after: Best Worst Movie natch! It's a great documentary on the bad movie resurgence. It illustrates how loving people are when it
comes to bad movies and what kind of toll a resurgence can take on
the people involved.
Best Worst Movie: Often cited as the “best worst film”, we sort of disagree. We feel Troll 2 is more of a gateway bad movie; you get a taste of the fringe world of cinema, but there's so much more out there!
Why you should watch the rest: This
movie is 90% flashback to the first
installment and 10% original content following the younger brother of
the original killer who's awaiting trial for his own murder spree.
What you should know before you watch:
If you're going to watch a Silent Night, Deadly Night movie watch either 1
or 2, or put some space between viewing both of them. (We watched them back to back one December and it was pretty hard to get through. Seriously, if you
insist on watching both, put a decent amount of time between
viewings.)
Clue #1: This month's movie is one of those films you know from a clip.
You know the kind of film; Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 is a good expamle of one! You've never heard of Silent Night, Deadly Night 2? Check out the clip below and see if that helps...
